De elf stemmen van Srebrenica

Over 62,000 Bosnian Dutch people live in the Netherlands, yet even 30 years after the genocide in Srebrenica, their stories remain largely unheard. This multimedia project, De 11 stemmen van Srebrenica, centers the personal experiences of Bosnian Dutch survivors—both first and second generation—whose perspectives have long been overshadowed by the focus on Dutch UN peacekeepers and the failed mission.

Survivor and genocide expert Alma Mustafić, along with journalist Marjolein Koster asked Robin de Puy to capture 11 portraits and 4 mini documentaries of survivors and their descendants. The project is exhbited at National Monument Camp Vught (June 26 – October 26), blending portraits, scenes from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and short documentaries. A portion of this work will also appear weekly in de Volkskrant.

The project includes a podcast series and exhibitions that aim to deepen public understanding of the genocide and its lasting impact. Survivor and genocide expert Alma Mustafić, along with journalist Marjolein Koster, guide the series, which combines personal narratives with expert insights into trauma, identity, and integration. The podcast launches June 21 via OVT (VPRO, NPO Radio 1), with selected episodes airing on radio from June 22.
